Here I was as happy as a kid with candy in his hands. I knew this was my chance to make a change in my life. This change was called Advance Leaders Course (ALC). For the ones that don’t know I am active duty Army. ALC is a school that you attend in order to be promoted to Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Army. And here I was attending this school with barely 4 years in the Army which is called fast-tracking in the Army world. I had already earned my promotion status before attending this school, which means after I graduated, I would have been promoted the following month. The next rank was so close I could taste it. Long story short I failed the school two weeks into it. I questioned God many nights about why this happened to me. I was the hardest worker at work, I was very knowledgeable about the job. I always volunteered and stayed late just to get the job done because I was determined to be the best, I was always willing to learn more than others. WHY ME!! WHY ME!! Failing ALC was a sign from God that I needed. It taught me to be HUMBLER. It also taught me not to rush things. Most of all it taught me that God has the ultimate plan for my life. He knows what’s best for me and he’s always there when you need him. If you didn’t get anything from this little story, I’ll leave you with this. Life is a marathon, not a sprint. Pace yourself and control your breathing. It might take you longer than others to get where you want to be but NEVER GIVE UP! Remain Elevated.
